My new year resolutions, are at this point of time still nowhere in sight. I could not see past my own nose last year, so this year instead of just jumping into making a long list of things I want to do, I instead am taking it slow and making commitments, as I go along.

Bullying is like, this crazy big word that can be… anything. From someone calling you “stupid” to getting physically hurt, to just someone intimidating you. I don’t think it can be described in one word, because it has a different meaning to different people.

I’ve been bullied. In fact, I am, more than the average person, a push over. I don’t know how to say “No, I do not want to share my apple pie and ice cream.”

Well well, so it is now 2012. 2011 was an amazing year. I worked on so many cool projects like MTV EXIT and… (ahhhhh!) MTV World Stage. Working with Utt was super cool, and him leaving made me sad

But they say for every door that closes, another opens. And let’s just say the door that opened was pretty damn cool. Firstly, we have a new VJ, which meant a new co-host for me. Being socially awkward, I felt the stress of having to engage in close social interaction with someone I’d soon be spending everyday with. I met him and thank God, the awkward in “socially awkward” was nowhere to be found. Maybe because we are both part American, or it also could be that we are both part Asian, or well, simply because we both own white singlets. Either way, we get along and it has been (relatively) smooth sailing so far. But his interest in sports and my obvious lack of that has us on other ends of the world.

What are trends? What IS a trend? Who says something is a trend? And if I don’t like the trend, will I not look trendy?

Meet All Time Low, one of my favorite bands at the moment. But that’s not cause they have my name in my song! That’d just be biased.

Anyways, these guys who drive 13-year-old girls craaaazzzyy were recently in town for a gig in Singapore, and 21-year-old me got to meet them! Check out what we talked about in this short interview!

Using Social Media as a tool to get your stuff out there. Yes. No. Maybe. I don’t know?

I, for one (and I speak from experience), think that in this day and age, social media is by far the best, most conventional and most accessible way to get your work out there. A lot of people asked me “How did you start to become a VJ?” and I say “I had a blog that someone read and sent me an e-mail asking me if I wanted to join.” So if not for that blog I might, quite possibly (at the rate I was going), not have the job that I hold at present.

From Yoko Ono to Mr Miyagi and all the way to Sadako. And then there was Sofia Coppola’s Lost in Translation, where the world paused to watch Scarlette Johansson sip a glass of sake. Coldplay also wrote a song titled “Lovers in Japan”, while Rachael Ray attempts at making perfectly shaped Onigiri, and I, in between taking bites of and then masticating my Okonomiyaki, try my best to memorize the lyrics to The Sukiyaki Song.

After months of searching, the trawl for our next MTV VJ is finally over! Fresh from her win at the recent MTV VJ Hunt competition where the winner was announced on stage at MTV World Stage Live In Malaysia 2010, our latest VJ addition, Holly Grabarek, is simply a new force to behold. Young, vibrant, and ever-so-charming with her smile, Holly shares a little bit more about herself before her journey as a VJ begins on MTV!

This year, kind of like Carl Lewis making time of 9.78 seconds at the 1998 US Olympic trials 100 meter sprint, has ran by me. I, laced up tight in Reeboks, look the part (athletic and semi-toned) have the lung capacity of a chain smoker. Out of breath and lagging behind but living by what Confucius said last week on Twitter, I am still in this race.

Growing up, I had all online mail delivered to the address of holly__rox@msn.com. I also wanted to be the next Britney Spears, or something of equal greatness but my Mother was against me watching the Toxic music video for fear that I might attempt to intimidate her dance moves. I now do not believe in instant messaging, internet addresses (apart from my compulsory work account), promiscuous symbols, synthetic vocals, and people who get married too many times in one life time.
