ZoukOut 2012: Be there or be square!Posted December 7th, 2012 At 6:34 pm By MTV ASIA

Hi everyone! Another maddening Zoukout weekend has come around to devastate Singapore’s shores yet again! But in a good way of course! This will be my third ZoukOut and I tell ya, there is no event in this region that gets the blood boiling and opinions racing like this one.
I always enjoy talking to people in Singapore about their ZoukOut feelings and experiences, and EVERYONE always has something to share. Veteran partygoers will declare their war triumphs to me going all the way back to 2001. The burying of friends in the sand, the make-out with a random stranger on the way to the portaloo, the dropping of an iPhone 5 in a portaloo, having a DJ look at them during a set, the 9am march back to Vivo City, the list goes on.

SnackyD VS Dick “The Rampage” JohnsonPosted September 7th, 2012 At 6:44 pm By MTV ASIA

Singapore was recently blessed with a “living legend”, in case you didn’t know! The real Kyle Patrick, aka SnackDragon, aka SnackyD was in town to record MTV Sessions. He’s without a doubt one of the nicest guys I’ve met since I started here at MTV Asia. If his inspirational ode to get up and ‘Go For Gold’ doesn’t make you want to stand up, bang your head against the wall and conquer the world, you’re not human! We decided to invite him on The MTV Show to go mano e mano with another living legend, Dick “The Rampage” Johnson. What followed was truly EPIC.
You could cut the testosterone in the air as I witnessed the two titans, The Rampage and SnackyD square off in 3 games of skill, which sadly are not yet Olympic events.

Punk’dPosted July 5th, 2012 At 12:26 pm By MTV ASIA
My lovely co-host VJ Holly pointed out to me last week that MTV must really love me to go to such great lengths to Punk me. They even went so far as to ask one of the hottest singer songwriters of today, Christina Perri, to jump on-board a train that was sure to end up a wreck. Being the well-balanced and down to earth human being that she is, I think she was just flat out tired of too much success and decided to join a scheme destined for failure just for kicks and giggles.
When I first found out that we were going to interview Christina, I thought wow this will be so awesome! And then my producers said they’re selecting one ‘lucky fan’ to get a tattoo given by Christina herself. Whoa! I was thinking, “This is the opportunity of a lifetime!” Even though I’m totally tattoo-less the thought of her even marking the bottom of my foot for remembrance, even though no one else would ever see it again raced through my mind. We would share this timeless, Twilight-esque bond that would outlast even career failure as an MTV VJ; Something that could never be taken away from me.

Dick ‘The Rampage’ JohnsonPosted May 28th, 2012 At 5:29 pm By MTV ASIA
With VJ Holly returning from Los Angeles, The MTV Show is in full-swing. Thankfully Brangelina have been way too busy with wedding preparations to acknowledge Holly’s adoption request right away so she’s back where we want her. She did come back in all of her glory. However, it was a bit of ‘extra glory’ said our wonderful, yet honest stylist. I didn’t seem to notice but Holly needed to drop a few stored calories… Pronto.

Musical VisitsPosted May 14th, 2012 At 5:23 pm By MTV ASIA
And so I forge on while VJ Holly continues her quest to get adopted by Brangelina. Hopefully she will come to her senses and realise that all of the cash, trips around the world and hand-me-down shoes from Angie will not equal the happiness she will have co-hosting The MTV Show with yours truly!
While Holly struggles through her early twenties mid-life crisis, I was fortunate enough to be visited by a few special guests at the Waterfront Studios in Resorts World Sentosa. It’s the same place where Vanness Wu and James Morrison recorded their MTV Sessions gigs, so the place is no stranger to delightful music vibes.

Parking WoesPosted May 9th, 2012 At 3:17 pm By MTV ASIA
We shot a cool segment with K-Pop Megastar Jay Park that aired this past Saturday on The MTV Show. It begged the question, “Can Jay Park park?”
Alright, maybe not the most unique landmark concept in television history but an intriguing query nonetheless. It got me thinking that parking is really a staple of manhood. I understand women have this drive to be great drivers, and you are! No sarcasm intended, promise! However, for the sake of conversation, it is a true measuring standard to how well the manliest of MEN can stamp their existence and guarantee their name lives on throughout the ages.

I Got MorrisonedPosted April 24th, 2012 At 4:21 pm By MTV ASIA
James Morrison is covered in a thick film of chocolaty, Zen moss. His thoughts flow like a river of chocolaty oil down a chocolaty waterslide made of frozen chocolaty oil. Smooth and untainted, he channels the mental aptitude of 1000 wise owls interlocking talons to project forth a vast wall of knowledge; Travelling diagonally, a quintillion times faster than the speed of light, infinitely through time.

Wickedly AwedPosted April 16th, 2012 At 6:27 pm By MTV ASIA
I was lucky enough to catch Wicked The Broadway Musical a few weeks ago at the Marina Bay Sands Theatre. I was curious to see why so many were so infatuated with this production. Over 30 million people worldwide have seen the musical performed and on its 9th year on Broadway it has garnered nothing but rave reviews. I was not disappointed!

You Can Be Cool, Just Being YouPosted March 26th, 2012 At 4:45 pm By MTV ASIA
This past week, I was totally impressed by Jessie J when she visited Singapore on the last stop of her Asian/Australian Tour. The show at the Singapore Indoor Stadium was well attending by many adoring, extremely energetic fans. We interviewed her before the show and she was very down to earth, telling us which artists inspire her and the videos that she enjoys watching over and over again. Her Brit accent was infectiously charming and it was difficult not to keep noticing her flawless skin.

Be A Kind BullyPosted January 20th, 2012 At 5:59 pm By MTV ASIA

It disheartens me to hear individuals’ stories about being bullied in school. I’ve also heard the flip-side. People who have dished it out for many years. Insults, taunts, cliquish belittling and intimidation in all of its forms. It all boils down to a petty problem but sadly one with many real victims. There are those out there who feel that they have something to prove at someone else’s expense. However, there are far more people out there who believe in edifying the person standing next to them. People who believe that committing random acts of kindness is truly the best form of reality entertainment.
