  • Big Night Out 2010 – A Rocking Good TimePosted February 11th, 2010 At 9:06 am By MTV ASIA

Mention “super massive,” “epic,” and “grandiose” in the same breath when it comes to live performances and chances are, someone’s talking about Muse. Having won a slew of “Best Live Act” awards and with gargantuan stadium feats firmly etched in the minds of fans thanks to the far-reaching powers of YouTube, it’s no wonder the 11,000-strong crowd were incredibly psyched for Big Night Out 2010.

It took a while to get in, but once things got rolling, the event ended up being one of the biggest gigs in recent local rock history. It was a night full of mosh, energy, and good ol’ fashioned rock. Though, it didn’t have the brightest of starts.

Produced by LAMC Productions, Big Night Out 2010 featured headliners Muse, backed up by post-hardcore band Saosin, and punk rockers Rise Against. Needless to say, as we took our place in line to get into Pen A, it seemed 90% of the people seemed to be there for Muse – we even saw people buying Muse T-shirts and putting them on right there and then. Total tally for Rise Against/Saosin tees – 3. Ouch. Though to be fair, that was just Pen A – hopefully there were more in the other queues. We also noticed a fair number of high heels in the crowd, and made a mental note to stay far away from them once we got in – there’s nothing quite like a 5-inch heel coming down on your foot in the mosh pit.

  • 2009 MTV Video Music Awards – A Night of Mayhem, Chaos, Shocks, Fairy Tales and Rock ‘n’ Roll!Posted September 14th, 2009 At 8:08 pm By MTV ASIA

If it’s any one who could deliver the most outrageous and jaw-dropping award show of the year, it has to be MTV. Not that I’m singing the channel’s praises just because. I’m saying this because it’s simply the gospel since 1984.

Case in point – The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Kanye West unexpectedly earning the “Jerk Of The Year” award by crushing a little lamb like Taylor Swift to tears, Madonna delivering a moving Michael Jackson speech and a fitting tribute by Janet Jackson, the limelight hogging Lady Gaga spurting blood, Muse and Green Day bringing the house down and Beyonce showing the world she is afterall, one of the top divas with superb class and grace. The red carpet has its moments too, with various stars arriving in style. Pink with her fire truck, 3OH!3 with their roses, Taylor Swift in a horse-drawn carriage. Those are the reasons why the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards is wholly all encompassing – It’s of mayhem, chaos, shocks, fairy tales and undeniably rock ‘n’ roll!

  • VMAs performers to take Manhattan by storm; Janet Jackson to open as a tribute to MJPosted September 10th, 2009 At 6:52 pm By MTV ASIA

The good ol' times of Janet & Michael Jackson.

We know that the Radio City Music Hall of NYC is the frequent ‘haunt’ of the annual televised MTV Music Video Awards and not to mention, its oh-so-famous starlets. But take a wild guess on where our VMAs performers will be on September 13, 2009?
