It’s been two years since her debut album The Show and Lenka is back with a greater zing of indie-pop, backed with a hearty dose of electronic beats. In town recently to promote her sophomore album entitled Two, the 33-year-old Australian singer-songwriter also gave a private showcase in the intimate setting of TAB at Orchard Hotel on a Saturday evening to a sizeable crowd ranging from the likes of teenage girls to the older and more sophisticated.

Surrounded by journalists at the Klapsons Hotel where she was in town (read Kerrie’s blog for more shenanigans) for a show last December, Lenka spoke freely about how she grew up in the Bush (it’s the Australian landscape, not where one actually came to the world, mind!), having her songs used in TV and films and so much more. Here are some of the highlights from the round-table interview!

Before today, I’ve already had the song Trouble Is A Friend stuck in my head. Apparently, listening to it umpteen more times will not unstick it. Repeat, will not. But then, it was a totally different experience watching her sing live on the CNA morning show, with just an acoustic guitar: it was mesmerizing!

Having already performed in Malaysia, Taiwan and Vietnam for the Hennessy Artistry events, LA based Australian singer/songwriter Lenka is finally bringing her quirky pop offerings to Singapore this December.
