Compared to most other things Lady Gaga’s been wearing, those Alexander McQueen shoes actually look normal on her in her Bad Romance video. In fact, it’s almost as though they were made with the Gaga in mind. Behold:

The video is all kinds of wacky. I was freaked out when I first saw it – more because of her freakishly protruding spine than anything else, even more so than a whole list of other freaky things in the video, for example: the hot Russian mafia, her exploding flaming nipple gun, spasming fingers and Silent-Hill-like dancers.

So I guess, as the fashion blogger, I am where they send prettified, pimped-up tech gadgets to, even though I have no idea how to describe a gadget in technical terms so…
I think the Tord Boontje-designed HP Mini, with ‘an exclusive HP Mini Imprint 3D finish with beautiful flora that weaves delicately around endangered animals, creating a mystical, layered effect’ is indeed pretty:

Every time I whipped it out of my bag, my girlfriends would chorus obligingly, ‘Oooh so pretty!’
Then: ‘Where did you buy it?’

Friday night was spent at the Parco next NEXT fashion showcase (yes there really are 2 next’s) – a competition featuring 25 local designers. TWENTY-FIVE. It is officially the longest show I’ve ever sat through.
The collections will be sold at Parco’s spanking-new departmental store opening at Millenia Walk next April – which is great because I’ve fallen in love with Ownmuse:

Ownmuse’s collection featured a lot of pretty cut-outs like the above – though the competition comprised only mini, capsule collections, about 5 pieces each – it was enough to make me feel like snapping them all up already.

I know, that is a totally tabloidy title, but that was all I could think about after reading this article on London Times today.

Do you think Marc Jacobs would want to wear a man bra too? (Francois Guillot/AFP/Getty)
Apparently there are ‘Girly Men’ or ‘Herbivorous Men’ (um – presumably ‘cos macho, butch men are more..carnivorous?) running around in Japan, wearing bras, skirts and frilly pink tops.
And these men are not homosexual by the way. And neither is it transvetism nor cross-dressing, ‘cos there seems to be no sexual fetish involved. Apparently, they:
“have no interest in fast cars, career success, designer labels and trophy women. Instead, they hold down humble jobs, cultivate women as friends rather than conquests and spend their free time shopping at small boutiques and pursuing in Japan what is regarded as a profoundly feminine pastime: eating cakes.”
Actually, they are starting to sound like really good friends to have. We’ll have plenty of common interests, for example, my profoundly feminine pastime of eating cakes.

We know boys love their beauty products too, except they probably shun the word ‘beauty’ and call them manly products or something instead. A survey released has interestingly talked about the top 3 favoured products of men across a few continents, and it made me think about Vanity in Men.

When I typed in ‘beauty conscious man’ in Getty Images, 7 out of 10 results showed Kevin Bacon. So here he is! Getty says he is A Beauty Conscious Man! So it must be true. (Photo By Rod Rolle/Getty Images)
It’s probably not news to anyone anymore, but I do believe that men are just as beauty-conscious as women.

Shock, shock, horror, horror – animal print is making a comeback as the latest trend – and I’m not sure if it’s one trend that will find its way into my wardrobe. I find animal print just slightly less cringeworthy than my debut acting performance in this week’s episode of MTV on the Streets. Haven’t seen it yet? Go. It will make your day a million times brighter, shinier and happier, if only ‘cos it made you laugh so hard. ‘Cos you know I only live to entertain you.
There are some looks that can look uniformly bad on all women. And the easiest look to fall into this category, in my opinion, is The Animal Print – which makes it especially important to use the good ole editing eye when we attempt to tackle this trend.
Let us first observe a negative example:

So how do we carry off this trend without looking like we just went on a safari hunting trip, caught ourselves some wild game, skinned it, and wrapped it around ourselves just like how our ancestral counterparts did?
