Just how awesome has it been?

Other than the whole lot of writing, fun events, and more writing; the great people I’ve met at MTV Asia have made it even more of a blast.

(Please don’t kill me for posting these up!)

Don’t you all just love awards season?

The divas come out to play, yards of fabric are used to cover up artistes’ bodies in varying ways, cute people get dressed up cutely and people get to win prizes! Everyone wins, including myself, because then I have something to blog about.

First of all, we all need some constancy in our lives. Something that doesn’t change. And we know you can count on Lady Gaga for that.

Sure, her outfits change, but you can sure as hell count on her to be entertaining.

… will be big this year.

Loose lines, relaxed silhouettes. Wear your bandage skirts and bodycon dresses all you can now, ladies – because soon you’ll be embracing the comfort that is slouchiness where you do not have to suck in your tummy everytime you steal a guilty glance walking past mirrors.

(Not that I do that – It’s too much effort.)

“Remember what I wore at the MTV VMAs? – boy, was it hawt.

..Yeah of course I meant I looked hot in it. But I also felt like, temperature hot, you know?

I blame it on my Nagini-like outfit. SO CONSERVATIVE. I thought it was so – uncharacteristic of me.

So that night, I went home, and like, shred all my clothes up.

I think I may have been overlooking the tees-and-jeans lovers in my audience, being more in the singapore-is-too-hot-for-jeans camp myself. But NO FEAR! I have sussed out several pretty cool online sites for you to do some online shopping at (I’ve heard online shopping is popular among people who want to slack off take a temporary break from real work. Really. This is just hearsay.).

As has been demonstrated on this blog and elsewhere, celebrities are actually really useful, because other than the movies they star in or television programmes they helm, they often provide fashion tips, ogle-material and sometimes, important life lessons.

Events such as the Golden Globe Awards are fertile ground for such potentially life-altering messages.

So let’s talk about Jessica Alba’s shoes at the People’s Choice Awards last week, shall we?

It has been the subject of some divisive debate.

I often ignore weird, random statistics – but this one I couldn’t ignore.

Women eat SEVEN POUNDS of lipstick in their lifetimes apparently (HuffPo).

That is the weight of a new born baby.

Or the weight we gain after one year in college.

Or like, a bag of potatoes.

I remember when I was a kid, my grandmother loved to watch Indian movies. She was a fan of the whole let’s-take-this-opportunity-to-dance style of the movies, and the 4-year-old me would sit with her to watch them, utterly enthralled.

(Unfortunately it didn’t hone any nascent dance skillz in me.)

Anyways, if she was still around now, I’m pretty sure this musical would thrill her to bits:

“The Merchants of Bollywood”

…when it comes to women’s bodies, that is.

There’s been a definite spotlight on ‘real’ women with ‘real’ bodies in magazines lately. (Because you know, size 0 models have ‘fake’ bodies.)

The only bone I have to pick is that – waitaminute – these women with real bodies are actually kinda, well, overweight. So why the two extremes? Either really ohmygosh is that her hipbone?!-skinny or voluptuously Botero-esque.

Most recently V Magazine’s ‘Size Issue’ (dropping Jan 14 in the States) featuring heavier women.

And they’re like, nekkid.
