SnackyD VS Dick “The Rampage” JohnsonPosted September 7th, 2012 At 6:44 pm By MTV ASIA
Singapore was recently blessed with a “living legend”, in case you didn’t know! The real Kyle Patrick, aka SnackDragon, aka SnackyD was in town to record MTV Sessions. He’s without a doubt one of the nicest guys I’ve met since I started here at MTV Asia. If his inspirational ode to get up and ‘Go For Gold’ doesn’t make you want to stand up, bang your head against the wall and conquer the world, you’re not human! We decided to invite him on The MTV Show to go mano e mano with another living legend, Dick “The Rampage” Johnson. What followed was truly EPIC.
You could cut the testosterone in the air as I witnessed the two titans, The Rampage and SnackyD square off in 3 games of skill, which sadly are not yet Olympic events.
The first event saw SnackyD getting the better of The Rampage in the ‘dice stack on a knife in your mouth’ event. The Rampage stormed back, besting SnackyD in the ‘shake marbles out of the tissue box’ event. Man, that Rampage can really move. Impressive to say the least! However, SnackyD pulled a miracle from the heavens with one insane swipe of a yoyo in the ‘knock the three plastic cups off the other three plastic cups with a yoyo event’. In one fell swoop, SnackyD used his yoyo to magically knock all three cups down. Go For Gold is right! These two colossal champions can beat anybody and you can watch them fight it out right here:
Snacky D carried this momentum to MTV Sessions where he energetically belted out The Click Five and his new solo tunes. He threw everyone for a loop when he covered a few songs that the crowd never expected, showing his emotional depth.
Doing his solo thing has pushed SnackyD to new challenges and forced him to find ways to stand on his own as a musician and develop his sound. His positivity and humble nature are allowing him to improve at a rapid pace as a solo artist, and this was really evident at MTV Sessions. It’s difficult to really label exactly what he’s doing. Yes, it is pop… but it is really him doing what he does. No gimmicks; Just a down to earth dude who knows how to have a laugh.
The music really flows through his veins so don’t miss Kyle Patrick on MTV Sessions on 8 September 2012 at 11am (WIB), 12pm (SIN/HK/PH), 1pm (MAL)!
Repeats are on 9 September 2012 at 5pm (WIB), 6pm (SIN/HK/PH), 7pm (MAL) and 11 September 2012 at 12.30am (WIB), 1.30am (SIN/HK/PH), 2.30am (MAL) respectively.
Have an awesome weekend all!
