I can’t exactly remember when I first listened to The Jesus and Mary Chain. Probably later than everyone else because I was born after their debut and also lived in a box till I was like 17. I must have been living in Jakarta then and had a friend who’d play them every time we were in the car. All I know is that they have been one of the most inspirational bands that have left such a huge mark it’s hard not to have wondered who they were and, yeah, listened to The Jesus and Mary Chain.

A lot of them intrigued me at 17, especially their band name.

Since then, “Between Planets” has become a song that reminds me of too many things. Ice cream, a boy, traffic lights. “Head On” is another one of my favorites. The lyrics “And the world could die in pain, and I wouldn’t feel no shame” always gives me that… feeling, haha.

Here is the part that I’ve been waiting to write: They are coming to Singapore! They’re coming here for a one-night-only show on May 26, 2012 at Esplanade Concert Hall. It’s going to be their only destination here in Southeast Asia and I have a feeling it’s one of those shows that if missed, you won’t get a second chance. Just sayin’.
