I Had A Day To RememberPosted March 20th, 2012 At 3:31 pm By MTV ASIAI’ve been watching more shows (gigs) than ever this year, so when my friend Mae gave me tickets to A Day To Remember, I said YES right away! I was and am not really familiar with their songs, cept’ from when I ride in my friend Bryan’s car and he plays them at a volume that hurts all the way down to my liver.
The gig was at Fort Canning. It started at 7 so being me, I said, “Let’s go at 8.” Bryan paid good money for his ticket and said to me, “No, we’re going at 6.45.” So we get there, and there is a massive line of people waiting for the show to start. It was awesome compared to some shows that I have been to where everyone is late.
They had a local band, A Town In Fear, and from Japan, 2Side1Brain, as opening acts and they did such great jobs warming the crowd up. I was outside and the energy could be felt from all the way at the parking lot.
Then came A Day To Remember. They walk out and the crowd went mental. My friends went mental. The songs clearly needed no introduction! The moment the band played, every single person in the audience knew the words to each tune.
A Day To Remember were super tight. I was all the way at the back and had to step further and further back every few minutes because everyone was moshing like moshing should be done – rough and dangerous – I did not feel like getting hurt. But the band did a crazy good job at making the crowd go absolutely psychotic. My friend tweeted “@sameersadhu this is the most disorganized mosh pit ever”. I felt the exact same way. It’s been a while since I have seen people let go so much and really just be one with the music. Good job ADTR and good job to my friends at Upsurge Productions.
It was a killer show. Looking forward to the next one!
