Some time last year, I decided I’d take up watching Telly, so I went out and I bought this massive HDTV. It was awesome. It came in a gigantic box which I disposed of, and the TV? I just left it on the floor by my bed all the way till… last Monday. Almost a year has passed and I did not touch my television.

In that time, I have done a million and twenty two different things to keep me entertained. I went swimming, got my hair damaged from chlorine, spent hours at the salon getting my hair treated from the chlorine which damaged my hair, got my hair trimmed, took up mandarin classes, read the first half of 10 books, googled ways to make myself happier on not so happy days, learned how to perfect the art of “just add water” miso soup, write on this blog and… What I am saying is that I have been doing everything fun and exciting (and maybe some not so fun and/or exciting) but I have been doing things, to keep me perpetually busy.

The other day, however, I suddenly decided I wanted to be effortlessly preoccupied. I was sick of looking at my laptop screen, which is about the size of my face. I looked around and realized, I had a really big telly. Perfect! I went to the Mac store, got cables, a wireless keyboard and track pad.

Now I’m surfing Facebook from my bed in mega-view, but that is not the best part.
The best part is that I have been lying here for hours, staring at people talk and say the most entertaining words. I, have been watching television. I have been watching Curb Your Enthusiasm, to be precise.

I literally lie here, using minimum effort, getting maximum entertainment. Who knew being entertained could be so easy? And why didn’t anyone tell me about this sooner?

Also, I picked up some great lines from shows that I can now use in regular life.
Like in The Godfather, my favorite line was “Merry Christmas. I want to buy some fruit.”

I wonder when I will be able to use that.
