I was 16 or 17 when this happened. I got a fancy invite saying, “Please come to my house tomorrow night: My Big Day!” from someone who signed off as “Jen”. My girlfriend’s name was Jen and her birthday was a week later than the invite was given. But it said “tomorrow” on the invite and for the record, this would be something I didn’t need an invite for. I planned a birthday surprise for my girlfriend and even got her roommates to help me. The next day, everything was in place and when she arrived, we shouted, “Happy Birthday Jen!”. She was surprised alright, and then she whispered, “Why are you a week advance?”. I showed her the invite and she told me it wasn’t from her. Just then, my phone rang and it was Jenny, my cousin, saying, “Where are you? Your entire family’s here…” and then it hit me. It was my cousin’s 16th birthday. – Kenneth Barbasa, Philippines
