• Cool Indie Tees and KicksPosted January 20th, 2010 At 10:25 am By MTV ASIA

I think I may have been overlooking the tees-and-jeans lovers in my audience, being more in the singapore-is-too-hot-for-jeans camp myself. But NO FEAR! I have sussed out several pretty cool online sites for you to do some online shopping at (I’ve heard online shopping is popular among people who want to slack off take a temporary break from real work. Really. This is just hearsay.).

One such Singaporean site is www.fabrikade.sg, which features stuff from indie designers. The pieces are pretty exclusive, and limited to a few pieces per design, so if you’re not into looking like everyone else then this will be a great place to shop at.

    the monster is so cute!

    The monster is like, cuteness.

I only wish that it could be a teeny bit  more user-friendly – so I can scroll through all the designs easily with the prices, without having to click on each picture individually. But that’s just a nitpick from my end.

Another great (also Singaporean) site I chanced upon is www.royalefam.com. They specialise in customising shoes – namely sneakers and skate gear.

Michael Jackson fans will probably covet this shoe:

    artfully scuffed up
Thriller edition – artfully scuffed up

A brief Q&A with a Royalefam rep revealed that only 10% of their customers come from Singapore - the majority is from the States.

    skate decks

Skate decks - kinda creepy cool

They also have a range of tees and hoodies to pick from – but I think their shoes are really fierce.

And lastly, dear Rochelle was kind enough to pass me a tiny purse from Team Manila last Dec when she dropped by Singapore.

The site is undergoing renovation right now, but you can find them on teammanila.multiply.com.

I’m like super besotted with these:

    tiny tees for tiny bodies

    Tiny tees for tiny bodies

Except I’m maybe 15 years too old to fit into them.

    team pilipinas!

    Team Pilipinas!

Of course, there’s the usual threadless.com and the like that everyone loves, but it’s great to go local whenever we can right? Show these designers some love.
