• VJ Denise’s Thoughts on 16 & Pregnant Episode 4 – ‘Ebony’Posted December 13th, 2009 At 11:30 am By MTV ASIA

One word for this episode? DRAMA between parent and child.

Ebony had such huge dreams, joining the Airforce and all. However, due to her pregnancy and certain regulations, that dream ended before it even began.

How Ebony can even be with Josh is beyond me. Well, people say love is blind and there is a baby in the equation. But still… She not only gave up a career in the Airforce but gave up graduating due to his silly… no wait. Not silly… Childish antics!

“I just missed a maximum of 50 classes.” Dude like seriously, that is not bad enough? In reality, he missed over 200! How he did it I do not know.

He is so immature and does not see the hard work Ebony puts through and the importance of getting an education so he can go join the Airforce. Through it all, he still felt he did no wrong! *Faints!*

I think deep down, he knows he is in real trouble. He seems so pathetic and lost when he was thrown out of the house. He wants to learn and swim but does not want to move out. A contradiction?

Doesn’t he see the love and care his folks are providing for him?

However, I do certainly have to give props to Ebony for going to prom! With the pressures of gaining weight, Yeah… the dresses you want may not always fit but to still go to prom is huge. Despite the tears rolling down her face from not being able to fit many of the dresses she would have liked to wear, she was still able to smile through it all. It seemed like a small part of a dream coming true and she looked so beautiful and happy.

I am perplexed. Very perplexed… Both Ebony and Josh’s parents seem to have done all the sex education talk they can. I wonder, do parents need to be on surveillance 24/7? It seems these kids have a good life though. No need for a part time job nor income but they seem to have everything provided for. They sure have it better than most!

I totally understand where Josh’s parents are coming from. They seriously are trying their best but their son makes them think they are never good enough, hence their outbursts. You can see it in their eyes. Disappointment all heaped onto themselves.

Even after the baby was born, Josh was still continued with his antics, costing Ebony the chance to graduate.
With such an innocent babyface, Ebony sure has a tough shell. She was still upbeat throughout and hoped Josh would learn something through this. I feel that even if in the end, she becomes a single mum, she will survive well.

We can get into all the different aspects of going out and living the life of a teenager but I find it really interesting that Ebony and Josh are being raised to be parents, by their parents for having a child.
Flood me with your comments! Your insight never fails to bring in another perspective which should be shared with everyone!

    Questions
    1) Have you ever had a dream that you totally want to accomplish?
    2) Even with all the sex education both parents gave, why did you think it fell through?
