Let’s Talk About Man CleavagePosted December 10th, 2009 At 11:29 am By MTV ASIA
According to WSJ, man cleavage is on the rise. It’s fascinating because apparently there are guys who care about the appropriate hair-to-skin ratio they’re showing when wearing chest-baring tees.
As you all know, women have been baring their chests for ages. Not quite full-frontal, but most lady pop stars/actresses have shown us a lot of their plentiful assets. (Think: Blake Lively in every. single. Gossip Girl episode.)
Now it’s the boys’ turn to get somethings off their chests.
I’ve seen the deep V-neck around before, but not often – I think most Singaporean boys are still keeping their necklines pretty high on the whole.
Aesthetically, I don’t really have a problem with it. Most Asian (Chinese) boys don’t have chest hair anyway – so none of that unsightly hairy business sticking out like Ed Westwick’s and distracting you from keeping your eyes above his collarbone.
But I know the BF would totally balk at this. He will see this as a threat to his manliness, plus his track record of attracting boys doesn’t help.
That said, there is no point to the deep V-neck, really. Unless you have really toned pecs you want to show off, I think most boys would still want to keep their chests safely hidden, away from the beach or the field. It’s not like I’m yearning to see guys’ chests anyway. I’ve been too deeply conditioned by the years of bountiful female cleavage to see any appeal in men’s rather more lacklustre cleavage. And if their man boobs are bountiful in anyway – argh! Get yourself to the gym! Or refer to my entry about Man Bras please thank you.
So, guys – yes to the deep V or no?
